Parable of the Vanguard

Title Sequence

At the beginning of 2021 I took a fantastic, and intense, 8-week advanced course focusing on cinematic lighting and storytelling using Cinema4D and Octane. It was taught by non other than ‘Octane Jesus’ himself, David Ariew.

The live interactive course was a blast and I felt like I was in privileged company with a couple of hundred other 3D artists from around the world. I was already a fan of many of those artists’ work, and others were names I had seen around in the mograph / 3D forums and social media sphere for a few years now. Being part of the inaugural course definitely felt like a special treat.

One of my favorite assignments for the course was to create your own title sequence for a sci-fi cyberpunk film / series from scratch. I have a deep love for title sequences and will always take any opportunity that comes up to work on them professionally. Being your own art director was definitely a challenge all it’s though, but I’m certainly happy with the results.

The best part being that there were no budgetary limitations to consider and thus no expense was spared in assembling the cast and crew of my dreams for this project, and, in the process, give a nod to my all-time favorite science fiction writer, Octavia Butler.
